There is something so grounding about getting out into nature. The soft waves against the shoreline, the rustle of the leaves in the trees, the quiet song of the birds; all of these beautiful pieces are at your fingertips on Vancouver Island. That is what makes this place so dang amazing! We want you to enjoy all that supernatural British Columbia has to offer, and these are the places we encourage you to enjoy it in.

1) Goldstream Provincial Park

This area is a perfect spot for the adventurous camper. Close to the infamous Goldstream Trestles, and the booming Mount Finlayson, there is never a shortage of exploring available for you. There are 126 campsites available for use, and ample parking nearby for visitors.

2) Sooke River Campground

Unlike the provincial parks, Sooke River Campground is privately owned by the Sooke Community Association. This campground is fantastic as it has a picnic area, a playground, coin-op showers, and many luxurious camping amenities. It is absolutely perfect for families! You have the option of non-service sites, and sites with water/power for added fees.

3) French Beach Provincial Park

One of my all-time favourites, French Beach is a phenomenal park if you’re looking for an easy camp. Sites are located only steps from the beach. There are washrooms available, and a large grassy area for games and picnics. The stars are breathtaking – *midnight walks are a must. 69 campsites available.

4) Island View Beach Regional Park

Looking to stay really REALLY close to town? Why don’t you try Island View Beach Campground? Enjoy the serenity of nature and the relaxation of getting away in a quick 15 minute jaunt. Located in Saanichton, Island View Beach offers gorgeous ocean views and 47 sites for tenters and RV’s alike

5) Thetis Lake Campground

Just across the highway from the popular summertime hangout, Thetis Lake, the campground is available for every type of camper. The facilities include showers, a telephone, water, 30 amp service and cable hookups at most sites. And the best part? Flush toilets! Get ready to get your glamp on!

6) Sidney Spit Marine Park

This site is unique as it offers white sand beaches as your campsite locations. It has been revered as one of the very best camping locations on the island – and for good reason! But if you wanna get the gold, you gotta work for it. You’ll need to take the ferry over, and walk in to your campsite, as there are no drive-ins available. Once situated, soak in the sun and the soft, white sand beaches of the Sidney Spit.

7) Jordan River Campground

Do you surf? Do you bodyboard? Do you get pummelled by waves and then save face by throwing up a hang loose sign for your buds? Well then Jordan River is the spot for you! With the best surf south of Tofino, this campsite is a busy spot all year round! Grab your wetsuit and board and head on down for an activity-filled vacation. There are 15 drive-in sites, and 7 walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.

8) Bamberton Provincial Park

One of the closer options to downtown Victoria is Bamberton. This is a family friendly park that is an easy 30 minute commute from Victoria. With outhouses, water, outdoor showers, and private campsites, Bamberton has everything you could need! There are 41 reservable sites.

9) Taylor Arm Provincial Park

Located just outside of Port Alberni, this park gives you full access to Sproat Lake, one of the island’s summertime hotspots. With only 3 group campsites, you oughta book well in advanced! With plenty of trails to explore, and plenty of beach to relax on, Taylor Arm is a fantastic option for a summer getaway.

10) Ruckle Provincial Park

If you have exhausted all of your in town camping options and/or are looking to broaden your campsite range, we highly recommend making the trek out to Ruckle Provincial Park. Located on the ever-beautiful Salt Spring Island, this cosy spot is well worth the commute! Not only does the park have plenty of pretty views and areas to explore, but Salt Spring as a whole is a campers paradise! With only 10 designated tent pads, you must plan for this one in advanced!
