I think we can all safely agree that Victoria is home to some of the coolest people in the world. We pride ourselves on our individuality, creativity and confidence!

Tyson Barrie: Born on the 26th of July, 1991, Tyson Barrie is one of many incredible pro athletes who hail from Victoria. Tyson’s career currently has him representing the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL.

Nelly Furtado:  Nelly Furtado is a world-renowned singer/songwriter who was born right here in Victoria, BC. Her career is decorated and her talent is awe-inspiring. With a networth of $35 million USD, all I can say is Woaaaah Nelly! (Ok, I’m done)

Emily Carr: If you live in Vic, you know Emily Carr. She is our pride and joy, our long-time resident artist, and our favourite historical figure. Her paintings are iconic, from the Modernist or Post-Impressionist movement.

Steve Nash: Laaaadiess and genntlemeen its STEEEEVE NASH! 8-time NBA All-Star and home-grown Saint Michael’s graduate! Steve Nash has built an empire, not only with his work as NBA player, coach and MVP, but also in his entrepreneurial endeavours and endorsements. Also our girl Nelly Furtado gives him a shoutout in her hit “Promiscuous”.

Cory Monteith: We lost this beloved Victoria actor only a few short years ago in 2013 from a drug overdose. He was an incredible young singer/actor known most prominently for his role as Finn in hit TV series Glee.

Megan Ory: Are you into fantasy TV series? Then you will most certainly recognize Megan Ory as Red Riding Hood from the series Once Upon A Time. She started out at Royal Oak Middle, and moved on to Claremont Secondary School. And now, our own Megan is a TV star!

Jeff Mallett: You know Yahoo!? The billion dollar media corporation that took the internet/entertainment/media by storm! Yeah, Victoria BC’s Jeff Mallett is the Director of that company. He saw the company through an 11-employee startup to the 4,000 employee corporation it is today. There’s something in the water here, I swear it.

Robert Service: If you’re familiar with the history of Victoria, the name Robert Service will be familiar to you. Mr. Service was a banker turned poet and has world renowned poems like “The Cremation of Sam McGee”. Service’s legacy is survived by the fabulous pub The Bard and Banker located on Douglas Street, downtown.

Now, I know that there are plenty of other incredible individuals that hail from our beautiful city…Dozens of Olympians and a number of Major League sports players, not to mention incredible artists and tech professionals! There are simply too many to list! I’ve resolved that Victoria is the breeding ground for greatness. And that’s that.
